Texture Sets is a technology developed initially in Frostbite during development of the Dead Space remake, and later re-implemented as a plugin for Unreal Engine 5.
At GDC 2025, I presented the story, development, implementation details, and results of the tech. The slides are available for free, and as a video recording to subscribers on the GDC vault.
We also open-sourced the UE5 plugin, which is available on github!
